Letter A: Utah’s Green river doubling back on itself, a feature known as Bowknot Bend Letter B: Arkansas river and the Holla Bend Wildlife Refuge Letter C: artificial islands at the southern end of Bahrain island Letter D: Akimiski island in James Bay, Canada Letter E: phytoplankton bloom off the New Zealand coast Letter F: valleys and snow-covered mountain ranges in south-east Tibet Letter G: this image of Pinaki island, French Polynesia, was captured by astronauts on the International Space Station in April 2001 Letter H: rivers running through colourful ridges in south-west Kyrgyzstan Letter I: Andaman islands. The thin, bright rings surrounding several of the islands are coral reefs that were lifted by an earthquake near Sumatra in 2004 Letter J: Trunk Reef near Townsville, Australia Letter K: glaciers at the Sirmilik national park in Mittimatalik, Canada Letter L: snow across the north-east US Letter M: glaciers in the Tian Shan mountains, north-east Kyrgyzstan Letter N: ship tracks over the Pacific. Ship emissions contain small particles that cause the clouds to form Letter O: Tenoumer meteorite crater in Mauritania.
